VocaVision is an Android app that helps users identify real-world objects using the device camera and AI-powered image recognition.
Developer Contact
App name: VocaVision
Package name: com.vocavision.objectrecognitionvoice
Privacy contact: Replace this with your support email before publishing.
Information the App Accesses
VocaVision may access the following device features:
- Camera: used to capture object images for recognition.
- Internet: used to send selected camera frames to the Gemini API for object identification.
- Microphone: currently requested only for speech-related features if enabled.
- Text-to-speech settings: used by Android to speak recognized object names.
Information Sent to Third Parties
When the user taps Identify Object, VocaVision captures a small number of center-cropped camera frames and sends them to Google Gemini for object recognition. These images are used to identify the object shown in the camera.
VocaVision does not intentionally collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, precise location, advertising identifiers, or payment information.
Users should avoid scanning private documents, faces, passwords, personal records, or other sensitive content.
API Key
If a Gemini API key is entered in the app, it is stored locally on the device using Android app preferences. The key is used only to make Gemini API requests from the app.
Children
VocaVision may be useful for children and language learners. If the app is listed for children under 13 or included in a children/families audience, the store listing and Data safety section must accurately disclose camera and API-based image processing. Children should use the app with parent or guardian supervision.
Data Retention
VocaVision does not operate its own server and does not keep a developer-controlled database of user images or recognition results.
Images sent to Gemini are handled by Google according to the applicable Google API terms and policies. Locally saved settings, such as the API key and onboarding flag, remain on the device until the user clears app data or uninstalls the app.
Data Deletion
Users can delete local VocaVision data by clearing app storage in Android settings or uninstalling the app.
Security
VocaVision uses HTTPS when communicating with Gemini. Users should protect their API key and restrict it in Google AI Studio or Google Cloud where possible.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when app features or data practices change. The updated policy should be made available in the app and on the public privacy policy URL used in the Google Play listing.
